Give us an introduction. How did it all begin? 
We met each other through a mutual friend who at the time was into shooting film. Vincent was doing a solo project and Blade and Geri were doing an acrobatic form of martial arts called Tricking.
Vincent was walking through a university auditorium and stumbled upon a mutual friend who introduced him to twin brothers Blade and Gericho. They struck up a conversation gelling over similar interests in music, martial arts and food. We decided to jam one day and that’s where Vincent met Cooper and Cold Vulture was born.
What motivates or influences the band in your quest to make great music?
Every time we jam like to challenge each other musically and explore ways to make an explosive and fun live show for the people. Also hearing the news that “Adventure Time” (the cartoon) was ending in 2018 we felt the need to vent some rage/depression.
What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as a band?
One day we’d like to get to a level that we could make this a career and bring our music to people we don’t know. Getting signed, getting that “platinum” record… But we also like the idea of influencing the next gen.
What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour?
We have a few shows coming up in Sydney, next one is at the World Bar on Oct 21 and straight afterwards we will be recording a new single and then touring again early 2017.
Tell us a bit about your latest EP and how would you best describe your music?
Groovy Moose was our latest release. It has elements of funk, blues and rock which are the foundations of our sound. The EP really was just us boys structuring our jams into songs.
Our new material is an evolution of that EP. I feel like the writing is better lyrically and musically our level has increased. The next era of the Cold Vulture sound is more distinct and refined.
What has been your biggest career highlight?
Tough question! Can’t really nail it down to one however there are milestone moments we can point out that feel like they have gotten us to where we are now. Obviously touring and releasing the EP and playing the Newtown Social Club are definitely at the top. But we remember the few shows we played at the World Bar where we feel like we started to get great feedback which just brought a new level of confidence.
Which musicians do you find inspiring?
The kinds of musicians we like have that unreal energy, a cool sound and electrifying vibes. Musicians that push themselves technically and musically on their instruments.
We all love Hendrix, Prince, James Brown, RHCP, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and the ol’ blues guys like Albert King, BB King, Buddy Guy ,SRV etc.
Any new projects in the pipeline?
As we mentioned earlier were getting ready to record the new single. It’s in pre-production stage at the moment.
The music industry is huge, where do you see yourself a few years from now?
More women, wine and songs and probably busting up them charts and going triple platinum… haha!
But in all honesty just having a hell of a good time with new people and developing ourselves to play and create at a higher level. Getting signed and playing at stadiums wouldn’t hurt either.

ACDC, Silverchair, Skyhooks, Jimmy Barnes, Jet, Fulton Street, Bin Juice, Just Breathe, Twisted Willows, Breizers, Thunder Fox, Harts, Australia (the band).
The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?
Social media allows us to be transparent with our fans and it’s another avenue to connect with them as well. We can’t say too much about the industry as we’re still newbies. But for now, we just have to keep playing shows, enjoying ourselves and making good songs and records.
We still believe the best promotion for anybody is that you have fun; play great live and make great records.

This is the first release from Sydney-based band Cold Vulture. It’s a kick-ass bunch of rock songs that takes a Hendrix aesthetic and funks it up a little. Twins Gericho and Blade along with younger brother Cooper and frontman Vincent are all incredibly accomplished and talented musicians. Their youthful exuberance really stands out on this EP – even in the more grown-up and life-questioning ‘Don’t You Dare’ tune.
