GYPSY & THE CAT sailed their 80’s synth infused take on yatch rock through the musical waters with their debut album GILGAMESH. Created by early 20 year olds at the time and in their own home studio, it excited the likes of Neon Gold, found a release on Young and Lost in the UK, a slot on a Kitsune Maison compilation, and a spot on NME Poll for the twenty “most likely”, all on it’s own musical merit. GYPSY & THE CAT were then surrounded by industry and expectations and the ultimate result turned out to be a band evolving through their own journey of touring, writing and listening.
The next taste of that evolution is the new single BLOOM, a sonic melting pot of a soaring infectious refrain. A dreamscape ballad with washed out melodies and driving tom-fuelled rock and dance-floor highs. It was recorded and produced again by the band and mixed with style by Dave Fridmann, the man on the board for the likes of MGMT, Tame Impala and The Flaming Lips.
It comes from the forthcoming long player #2 called THE LATE BLUE which is planned for Australian release through the bands new indie label Alsatian Music on October 19th.
