theaussieword.com catches up with Tanzer.
Tell us how it all started. What had you first interested in music? My mother told me that the only thing that shut me up as a toddler was sitting me in front of Young Talent Time on the telly. I’ve been a frustrated child star ever since.
What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music? Pleasing myself – a quest that keeps me perpetually under slept.
What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist? See above!
What has been your biggest career highlight so far? Completing a solo recording of my own composition and arrangement, on my own terms.
Name a few of your favourite Aussie artists. Mangelwurzel, Jaala, Sex On Toast, Frida, DX Heaven, Teeth and Tongue, Kira Puru, Sugar Fed Leopards… I’m very spoiled here in Melbourne.
What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour? A few things in the pipeline that haven’t been announced! I look forward to sharing them with you.
Tell us a bit about your latest record, how would you best describe your music? Melodramatic love letters atop a sparkly, dense pillow of sound.
Do you have any new projects in the pipeline? I’m working on the script to my next music video, a sequel to ‘Johnny’, in which the protagonist’s love takes a sinister turn.
