New Music: The Raffaellas ‘Words’

Previously performing Ray Charles & Paul Simon covers as members of a big band – in 2010 Pat, James, Michael and Doug broke away to form The Raffaellas via their shared appreciation of Classic Rock & Roll and 12-Bar Blues.

A self-titled EP under their belt, The Raffaellas began to forge a reputation as hard-working musicians via performances in every bandroom from Brunswick to St. Kilda. In late 2012 they entered Birdland Recording Studios with revered producer Lindsay Gravina (The Living End, Roland S. Howard) to record their most consequential works to date. Their first offering, ‘Words‘, is a commentary on the tendency for society to define everyday life with restrictive labels. Driven by bright guitars and punchy rhythm, sonically ‘Words’ is a pulsating jam that builds up to a lyrical assertion of anthemic proportions.
