New Music: Hey Geronimo ‘The Dan Kelly Song’

Self-confessed Dan Kelly tragics Hey Geronimo have made a celebrity splash off the highest platform with their new single “The Dan Kelly Song”, produced by Magoo and Ball Park Music’s Sam Cromack.

“The track was inspired by a dream I had in which Dave McCormack and Dan Kelly were co-writing songs for Hey Geronimo,” said vocalist Pete Kilroy. “I woke up, and realising how cool that would be, figured we should just try and write a song in that style anyway. We’re all huge fans and it was either this or get tatts.”

And with a wink of approval already granted from the man himself, Hey Geronimo’s borderline obsessive stalking has paid off, both in introducing them to their hero and in creating another sing-a-long horn-laden smash to add to their growing list of indie party rock anthems.

Hey Geronimo had a huge 2012, with their single “Why Don’t We Do Something” scoring major syncs and clocking up nearly a million YouTube views. Their follow-ups “Carbon Affair” and “Dreamboat Jack” landed the group a spot as one of triple j’s Next Crop artists, with multiple national tours and festival slots at the likes of BIGSOUND, Fat As Butter, Homebake and Peat’s Ridge.

Hey Geronimo hit the road this June, co-headlining with mates Strange Talk for the STRANGE GERONIMO TOUR.
