SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Crooked Colours

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Liam from Crooked Colours.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?

We had all been dabbling in various forms of creating music. Leon had been into electronic music from an early age collecting a vast array of synths, Phil playing acoustic gigs around Perth, and Liam was classically trained and influenced by his dad who was a music teacher. The love of creating music and then playing it in front of an audience was a massive driving force for the three of us to pursue more. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Crooked Colours

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Modern Love Child

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Modern Love Child.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?

I was 8 years old. I wanted to impress the girl who was living next door to me, I had a huge crush on her, so I wrote her a song and sang it for her. She gave me my first kiss, so I stuck with it.

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?

Everything and anything beautiful and honest. What motivates me comes from something burning inside, I’m lucky that music really affects me the way it does. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Modern Love Child

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: REN

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Conor from REN.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry? I started playing the guitar at the age of 13 but what really made me want to get in to the music industry was seeing documentaries about bands like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC on tv. Living life on the road looked brilliant so I decided the musicians life was going to be for me from a young age.51411433_2165041326867937_3206379518109417472_n

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music? Making music has become such a habitual thing that it doesn’t feel like I need anything to motivate me anymore. It’s just something that I do and is a part of my life whether I like it or not!

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist? What I really hope for is a career with longevity. I’d still like to be writing, recording and releasing music until a ripe old age. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: REN

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: UNBLOOM

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Jonathan from UNBLOOM.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?

I started playing drums when I was 13 years old, and eventually made my way into several indie, funk, and jazz bands. My love for production and studio wizardry began when we recorded these projects in various studio environments. I loved the process of tinkering and sculpting sounds to create new and exciting ideas. Processed with VSCO with p5 preset

My love of dance/electronic music, however, occurred when I listened to Disclosure’s debut album “Settle” for the first time. I knew in that instant that I wanted to make music that could move people physically and emotionally.

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?

Making people emote to my music is something that motivates me every day to become better at my craft.  I want to make music that engages you on all levels.

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?

In a world of streaming and metrics, I think getting to 1 million streams would be a big deal for me. I know numbers a superficial basis to mark success, but I just feel hitting that number would mean so much to the validity of the UNBLOOM project. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: UNBLOOM
