What can you tell our readers about you? How and where did it all begin?
My name is Cosima De Vito, and I am an aria award winner singer/songwriter who is best known for the 1st season of Australian Idol.
What had you first interested in music?
Music runs in my family and it all began with my grandfather who I would listen to belt out tenor arias when I was a little girl.
Who motivates or influences your quest to make great music?
Music for me is like the air I breathe. I know it sounds cliché but it’s an extension of who I am. So when I sing and write music it’s like my personal diary of thoughts that I’m sharing with everyone.
Do you have any planned tours coming up?
The new single, “Right Here Right Now”, has just been released and I’m in the studio laying down vocals for the second track which will be ready just in time for Christmas. Promotional tour is planned and I’m currently working on a new show for early next year.
What are some of your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?
My biggest goal is to maintain Longevity. I want to keep recording and performing for years to come, and if I can reach people with my music then I would have achieved my goal.

What can fans expect from you in the coming months?
A Christmas single is planned for Christmas and more singles to follow and Lots of touring and shows.
Success, what is the secret to it and what has been your biggest career highlight so far?
The secret to success in life is being yourself and living life your way. It’s what my new single “Right Here, Right Now” is all about. Being proud of the “uniqueness” that is you and realising that today is the only certainty and we must live it. The biggest highlight was performing at the “Dream Foundation” in LA in front of people like Rob Schneider, Sharon Stone and Randy Jackson.
Which stars of the music industry do you find inspiring?Meeting Anthony Warlow was amazing, I am a huge fan. Working with Diane Warren on my first album was definitely a highlight of my career. She is multi Grammy award winning songwriter and she is so down to earth and full of incredible advice and wisdom.
How would you best describe you and your music to your fans?
I am a singer songwriter who loves emotive songs with powerful lyrics and powerful vocals.
What can you tell us about your latest album?
The Single, “Right Here Right Now”, is definitely a new sound for me. It’s a fusion of rock and dance, with a positive message about living life today and doing it your way.
Are there any new exciting projects in the works?
Absolutely I am working on a new show which will see me touring the country with my band.
The music industry is huge, where do you see yourself a few years from now?
It’s been 9 years since Idol and I’m still recording and performing so I hope that in another 9 years I will still be doing what I’m doing.
Name a few of your favourite Aussie artists.
I am a huge fan of Aussie artists like SIA, Katie Noonan, and Anthony Warlow.
The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?
The industry has changed considerably and we are relying more on the Internet to promote ourselves and music. I think though what’s positive about Social Media is that independent artists like myself can speak directly to our fans and distribute our own music.
