‘Weathered’ was written, produced and recorded by Jack Garratt and is slated to sit front and centre on his debut full-length set for release next year. Featuring all the best pop sensibilities, heart-stopping vocals and a twisting, building beat, the song is marked by a synthesis between each outstanding element.
With beginnings as a fine, intricate guitarist with a rasping voice, his performances were smattered with a gift of the gab repartee that suggested part stand-up, part tortured folkster. Soon began his foray into the electronic, with Jack’s first release, the Remnants EP (self-released through Bubinga Records) an invigorating, almost spiritual listen. It marries those distinct elements of electronica with classic guitar-fronted songwriting.
The forthcoming second EP is indeed a quantum leap on from Remnants. The first track, ‘The Love You’re Given’, has already racked up over 1.5 million Spotify streams, tangling multi-tracked handclaps with a beats-laden dancefloor hookline.
