Karise Eden Crowned ‘The Voice’ Winner!

Karise Eden, 19, from the New South Wales Central Coast, made it through 10 gruelling weeks of competition to be voted by the public the winner of the first Australian season of the electrifying talent show that has captured the hearts of a nation and scored blockbuster ratings for the Nine Network. Australia first met Karise when she wowed the coaches with her powerful Blind Audition song, It’s A Man’s World. All four coaches – Seal, Joel Madden, Delta Goodrem and Keith Urban – turned around for her within the first few bars of the song. After impassioned pleas from each of the coaches Karise chose to join Team Seal.
Moving into the Battle Rounds, Karise was paired against young West Australian mother Paula Parore in a battle of the powerhouse voices, singing Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black. Seal chose Karise as the winner of that battle and she joined the final six artists from Team Seal to move through to the Live Shows. Throughout the Live Shows, Karise has wowed audiences with her performances of Rebecca Ferguson’s Nothing’s Real But Love, Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide, a top four performance with Seal of his smash hit Kiss From A Rose, and Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
Tonight she added a stunning duet with Seal of Jimmy Cliff’s Many Rivers To Cross, and a group performance of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac with all the finalists who made it through to the live shows on The Voice. Throughout the series Karise has enjoyed multiple successes on iTunes. All of her Live Show performances have hit Number One on iTunes downloads. Her original song performance from last night’s Grand Finale, I Was Your Girl, and her blistering cover of Stay With Me Babyboth peaked at Number One after being released last night.
Karise’s coach, Seal, said: “To all the millions of people across Australia, the dreamers, the fortunate, the less fortunate, to all of you who were told you’d never amount to anything, to those of you who’ve felt you were never heard, you now have a voice, and her name is Karise Eden.
“It has been the greatest honour to work with this incredible young woman, and I am so proud to be a small part of the beginning of what I know will be a long and spectacular career.” Karise said: “I am just so overwhelmed. If you had asked me a year ago if this is where I would be right now I would not have imagined it.
“To work with an amazing artist like Seal has been a dream come true. I have learnt so much that I will take through with me for the rest of my career. “The public who voted for me, the support Australians have shown me, has made me realise my decision to come on this show was the right one and I am very grateful.”
