How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?
When I was about five I saw the rock band Kiss on the show 321 contact wearing platform boots, black leather, and exploding pyrotechnics behind them. I was pretty much sold from that point on. The cannons in AC/DC “for those about to rock we salute you” were also a defining moment. Something about fireworks and music together felt synergistic, haha.
What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?
I believe in the transformational power of music. I believe that music is a reflection of the collective unconscious, and if we tap into it, we achieve a psychic union of all beings who are interested.
What are some of your biggest goals you hope to accomplish?
My dream has always been to play at the outdoor theatre at Coachella. I think if I succeed in that regard all else will be forgiven.
What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour?
Quite frankly, as an independent artist, we are all too busy to tour. We will play local shows and work on new songs for our next record.
Tell us a bit about your latest release and how would you best describe your music?
Our latest release is the single computer. That’s about how we humans with every passing day are getting to be more like cyborgs. What happened to the heady days when you felt like taking a walk without your personal device in hand? Music is thoughtful psychedelic independent pop rock..
Give us an insight into your creative process. What gets you writing songs?
Typically I dream sections of songs or bear witness to them in altered states. And then I take that seed or hook back to my band mates or lyricist and turn it into a proper song, and go ahead and produce it.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
Love, forgiveness, respect, devotion, understanding, and stripping away of all barriers to healing, and having fun!
Success, what is the secret to it?
Do what you love doing and get into the creative flow. All else will follow..
What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
Well, just this week we asked to sign two publishing deals for sync placement, so I’m pretty happy about that. 1 foot in front of the other am I right?
Which stars of the music industry do you find inspiring?
I like the dancers 🙂 no really I think producers like justice are doing amazing work.
Are there any new projects in the pipeline?
Yes, we already have six songs lined up to record for our new LP. . And our latest record is getting released in two weeks so that’s a pretty big situation!
The music industry is constantly changing, where do you see yourself a few years?
I’d love to be doing the same thing I am now ,but with label support and touring nice venues with the sound is good.
What is your favourite and least favourite part about this line of work and why?
My favorite part is being in the creative flow. My least favorite part is how we seem to rely upon recognition of the general public as a metric of our success.
Name a few of your favourite Australian artists.
Avalanches! Olivia Newton John! Tame Impala… And Aussie-adjacent Conan Mockasin.
The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?
I think it’s quite challenging, but it always has been so I guess the game is the same. Only the names and rules have changed.
How will you continue appealing to the international market?
All we can do is keep on releasing great music and try to get it into the hands of his most people as humanly possible!
Do you collaborate with others? Who is on your wish-list?
Yes, I love collaborating with others. I collaborated with quite a few producers on our upcoming record, Jeremy Black, Jason Lesser, or eveningland, Tomas, clouds, and a bunch of other amazing musicians, like flow loris.. Not to mention Jump… orn Clement Leveu. . My wish list as whoever inspires me at the moment!
What advice do you give for other artists wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Stay true to yourself, and you will never fall.
A message for your fans. How do you best interact and respond with your followers and fans?
I love all my children! Follow us on social media and hit us up with cool groovy hellos.
Any last words?
Stay golden, ponyboy!
