Following on from another sell-out show at El Grotto in Perth, COTERIE have released their official video for current single ‘Salvation’. The emotive video is directed by the talented Maddy King (JOY, Eliott, Anfa Rose) who is noted for her strong narrative driven stories.
Madeline King explains her thoughts behind the ‘Salvation’ video. “I wanted to show that everyone encounters dark times in their life. Hardship, loneliness & sorrow will forever be an inescapable feature of the human condition. The video had to touch on universally relatable emotions, we’re all equal and sometimes we all need saving.”
‘Salvation’ was fittingly filmed at some of the most cinematic locations in the southern hemisphere. Shot predominantly outdoors in Queenstown (N.Z), the snow-capped mountains of Glenorchy (N.Z) and ThePinnacles Desert in COTERIE’s home state of Western Australia, the shoot proved to be physically tough for those involved enduring weather conditions of extreme heat and winds. The video was also filmed in Sydney and Fremantle Prison (W.A), the latter where the recently revealed Black and White ‘Salvation’ Performance video was shot.
Maddy continues, “We filmed in 3 different cities and 2 countries. First, we shot in Sydney, then Perth and finally in Queenstown, New Zealand. My favourite location is the Pinnacles Desert in Western Australia where we shot the dancing scene. Either that, or the riverbeds in Glenorchy where we shot the horse scenes with the snow-capped mountains in the background! “
COTERIE worked with Maddy King on their debut video ‘Where We Began’. Tyler explains, “In the Salvation video we really want to try and portray stories of different people … experiencing different times in their life…. who might have felt like their situation or moment was a little too much. We wanted to try and show in the song and in the video that we are all subject to low points at times in our life. The video we hope creates a space for people to know, it’s ok to need saving sometimes.”
In a short space of time four-piece COTERIE have been making a name for themselves in the local music scene with their music hitting over 1 million streams in total.
With their Salvation Tour fully underway, COTERIE will be heading to the East Coast on Thursday April 16th for shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Goulburn and Wollongong.
