Equal parts performer, songwriter and producer, Swedish Grammy-nominated Noonie Bao is one of Scandinavia’s most celebrated artists. Having already co-written songs for the likes of Charlie XCX, Clean Bandit and Avicii, Noonie today shares the video for her new single Reminds Me, out now via her own label2ManyFreckles. Premiered on Charli XCX’s Beats 1 show, it follows her 2015 EP ‘Noonia’ of which Pyramids was praised by international tastemakers and has accrued a staggering 3 million streams online.
The Reminds Me video was directed by acclaimed cinematographer Sebastian Mlynarski, who directed the clip for Miike Snow’s hit Animal, which was nominated for a VMA amongst other accolades. Shot in Death Valley, California the video is about the haunting memory of an old love.“The song is about feeling pain rather than feeling nothing at all”, explains Noonie.
Dropping out of school at age 16 to pursue a career in music, Noonie began working at a recording studio Paris where she recorded her first demos secretly at night. A prolific songwriter from a young age, Noonie’s debut album ‘I am Noonie’ was nominated for a Swedish Grammy in 2013. She has since then worked alongside artists like Carly Rae Jepson, Rita Ora and co-wrote songs on Charli XCX’s critically acclaimed debut ‘Sucker’, as well as her 2016 EP ‘Vroom Vroom’, produced by SOPHIE.
