EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Kyle Brylin

theaussieword had the privledge of catching up with electronic pop sounding Kyle Brylin in an exclusive interview all the way from Wisconsin in the USA. Here’s what he had to tell us!

So tell us, who is Kyle Brylin?
Good question, I’m still figuring this out myself. I’m 22, American from the state of Wisconsin, and am obsessed with Electronic music. Some people prefer my acoustic efforts, I just get so bored strumming a guitar. I need the big beats, heavy synths and hard bass. I think my biggest attraction to being an artist is I can evolve and be a different person or character from track to track.

What first got you interested in music?
When I was in elementary school my cousin asked me to write a song with her. I never quit. I fell in love with creating, it’s like pulling thoughts out of the air and making them audible.  I started dubbing my voice and keyboard sounds with multiple cassette players in my bedroom before I had a computer.

What are some of the biggest goals that you hope to accomplish as an artist?
Oh man. Ya know, I just want to be able to make an honest living, doing what I love. I have no idea where my life is headed, of course we never do. Every single time  one of my songs means something to someone, that’s an accomplishment for me. I have so many wonderful  people backing me up.

Your new single, “Revenge,” is out now. Can you tell us about it?
Yes it is. It’s a dance track written by Charlie Mason, Chris Jay, Richard Hymas, and it’s about exactly that, getting revenge. I recorded it back in February and we thought it’d be a fun fall track. The groove pusher remix is pretty cool, too.

Looking ahead, what plans have you got coming up?

My plan changes every five minutes, so honestly, I don’t know haha. There might be a remix compilation of my previous releases, and expect an album early in 2012. I’m working so hard to get out new music as fast as I can. I can’t wait to share my new and very much improved sound with everyone.

Was it difficult starting out, like getting your music out, getting noticed?
I mean, I had to start somewhere, and that was literally ZERO. The most difficult part was wondering “Am I just going to be laughed at?” I wasn’t taken very seriously. Amongst all those who are still laughing, they are so many more who have embraced the music I’ve released over the past two years, and that has me working even harder to be the best I can be. I’m doing this for them, because they believe in me, and they seem to be having just as much fun as I am.

Who are your career influences?

I can’t lie, Britney Spears hit me like a ton of bricks in 1999. My mom wouldn’t let me buy her album because it said “Baby” too much. My sister and I split the $13 one day and bought it ourselves. That’s when I realized what a pop artist was, and I wanted it. Hard.

Do you use social networking such as Twitter to promote yourself and how do you find it?

Without social networking, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. At this point, my “career’ depends on it and I love how easily I can communicate one-on-one with the friends I have made, from Brazil to Germany to of course, Australia. 🙂
