Saint Clair is streaming her debut single ‘Sailing’, released via Kieron McIntosh’s (Plan B, Paloma Faith) new Wunderkind imprint. Produced by Ben Jones and Raffertie (Ninja Tune) the lustrous, electronic-soul single finds the French-speaking Londoner mastering a slick distillation of classic song-writing sensibility and wholly contemporary influences including Son Lux and James Blake. A unique voice born out of a teenage discovery of classic standards (Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder) and more recently singing for Kwabs and Ghostpoet – Saint Clair now emerges on her own terms. And as the sparse handclaps of ‘Sailing’ give way to a shimmering chorus which unfurls beneath her multi-tracked vocal, you sense the presence of an artist inexorably on the rise.
