NEW MUSIC: Nathan Ball – Blindside

Pairing melancholy songwriting with stirring electronica, acclaimed British indie artist Nathan Ball shares ‘Blindside’ – the stunning lead single from his forthcoming debut album, out later this year.

With a haunting verse building to an euphoric chorus, ‘Blindside’ eventually erupts with cymbals like the crashing waves on the storm-beaten cliffs which naturally surround the Cornwall-based musician. Starting out as Nathan tinkering on a piano in an old chapel outside of Bath, ‘Blindside’ documents a relationship falling apart, the feeling of losing sight of who each other is and craving that connection and emotion back.

Produced by Max Radford and mixed by the esteemed Nicolas Verhnes (The War on DrugsDaughterDeerhunter), ‘Blindside’ follows a quiet yet formative 2020 for the British artist, riding high off the back of his very well-received collaboration with dance legends Faithless for their latest album ‘All Blessed’, alongside his own beautifully poignant singles ‘Just Say Something’ and ‘All Comes Back to You’ plus writing/producing his debut album.

Earning major critical acclaim during his career from the likes of THE INDEPENDENTGQTHE LINE OF BEST FITCLASH and HUNGERplus continued radio support from the legendary Jo Wiley and Huw Stevens, much of Nathan’s material is connected to his surroundings and fuses his passions for folk songwriting and house music. With each release, Nathan invites listeners into his vivid musical world earmarked by classic songwriting and house-inspired flourishes, showing an eagerness to experiment and push sonic boundaries.

2021 looks set to be a milestone one for Nathan’s career and an exciting new phase for the burgeoning artist.

‘Blindside’ is available worldwide now.

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Nathan Ball special interview with alternative/indie UK singer/songwriter Nathan Ball.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry? I’d always been obsessed with music as a kid, my main memories of music in my childhood were driving in the car with my parents. There was always a bit of Van Morrison or T-Rex on the stereo. Music didn’t run in the family though, none of my family are musical, so it was just through interest at school that I picked up a guitar and started singing. I pretty much wrote songs from that day onwards.DxNVSUNW0AUzych

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music? I like making music that makes you feel something and tugs on the heartstrings, so there is always alot of emotion in my music, whether that be the lyrics or the vocal melody, alot of thought goes into the feeling and the vibe of the song. Seeing people connect with those songs during the live show is the most amazing feeling. I often see people with their eyes closed or having a little cry during the set and it means the world that people connect with the songs so strongly. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Nathan Ball
