Tribute: Victorian ‘Black Saturday’ Bushfires

3 years on, we pause to remember the victims, their familes and all those who lost loved ones in one of the biggest Australian tragedies – the ‘Black Saturday’ Victorian Bushfires which struck my home state on February 7 in 2009. In such an outpouring of grief, Australians together with the rest of the world dug deep to donate a mammoth $40 million dollars to help with the recovery effort.

  1. s Victorian authorities strive to triple the amount of prescribed burning they do in response to the Royal Commission recommendations after the Black Saturday fires, other states are also adopting the policy.
