Special Interview: Roger Jaeger

theaussieword.com catches up with US singer/songwriter Roger Jaeger.

Tell us how it all started. What had you first interested in music?ย As a kid, the first band I really listened to was the Newsboys. Somehow through them I got a crazy idea that I wanted to learn the guitar.


What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?ย I want to move people. I want to create an experience that is relatable, but also takes people places they didnโ€™t know theyโ€™d be going. But I also make music because I enjoy it. Thereโ€™s something in me that just doesnโ€™t feel complete without it. I often come alive when I play it. Guitar, sitar, piano, the words Iโ€™m singing- become an extension of my soul.

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?ย Hmm. Open for Coldplay.

Success, what is the secret to it?ย I suppose some of that may depend on how you define success. Is it getting signed? Is it reaching a certain position on the charts? Is it making enough money doing music that you can live on it and not work another job? For me itโ€™s maybe largely the last one, but I think Iโ€™ve gotten there by continuing to grow. By taking risks. By being willing to fail, failing, and continuing anyway.Continue reading
