theaussieword.com catches up with DJ duo The Faders!
What can you tell our readers about you? How and where did it all begin?
We never thought we would be where we are today! We both work in Marketing & PR, which is actually where we met working at MTV. A friend of ours asked us to DJ at a night he was putting on where people in the music, fashion and art industry’s bought their music and their friends along to played a couple of tracks. We invited our friend Sean Ray aka Snob Scrilla that night who was really into our vibe and asked us to play at his album launch and then it all took off from there.
What had you first interested in music?
We’ve always been into music growing up especially 90’s r&b. Growing up and going out to clubs, listening to DJs play the newest tracks and then going home and downloading them back then really got us hooked.
Who motivates or influences your quest to make great music?
We think it’s safe to say that club DJs really motivate us to be the best we can. Even now we still love going to clubs just to listen to what other DJs are playing. Local hip hop/ r&b DJs like DJ Moto, Peter Gunz & DJ M.A.F.I.A have inspired us in the past and still inspire us today with their talent. If we’re talking internationally we are HUGE fans of A-Trak & J.Period.

Do you have any planned tours coming up?
We are planning a tour to coincide with the release of our debut compilation album F.U.N. in-stores Sept 28. Stay tuned for details…
What are some of your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?
Our biggest goal at the moment is to be able to continue what we’re doing for a long time to come. We are also super keen to get into producing our own tracks.
What can fans expect from you in the coming months?
Lots of gigs! We can’t wait to bring our F.U.N. vibe to the masses
Success, what is the secret to it and what has been your biggest career highlight so far?
Not sure if there is a secret to success. It will be different for everyone. What we can say is just make sure you’re having fun in whatever you are doing because the moment its not fun anymore is the moment you probably need to do something else.
Our career highlight so far would have to be two things… going to London to play during the Olympic Games and the release of our album!
Which stars of the music industry do you find inspiring?
Producers that make amazing beats are super inspiring. Our favourites would have to be Kanye West, Teddy Riley, Swizz Beats and at the moment Hit-Boy is killing it!
How would you best describe you and your music to your fans?
Simple put… F.U.N. We want people to dance and have a party! Its not about being cool or pretentious just about an absolute hell time!
What can you tell us about your latest album?
Our album is definitely all about a fun house party vibe! It’s all about the hits that you can dance and sing-a-long to as well as some of the best new tracks to come out in the past six months.
Are there any new exciting projects in the works?
We’re currently focusing on our upcoming tour, which is pretty damn exciting!
The music industry is huge, where do you see yourself a few years from now?
Who knows… We could barely see ourselves where we are now two months ago so who know what the future holds. We can only hope it gets bigger and better!
Name a few of your favourite Aussie artists.
Jessica Mauboy
Sia
Bliss N Eso
The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?
We think it’s a very exciting time! Social media (facebook, twitter & instagram) allows us to connect directly with our fans, which is an outlet artists in the past haven’t had. Its amazing and definitely an easier way to connect with the masses. We think it’s awesome how the music industry in general has embraced the digital age.
Thank you for the interview! What can you leave fans of theaussieword.com with here today?
Keep having F.U.N.!
