Give us an introduction. How did it all begin? What had you first interested in music?

Hey, I am Fields, a singer songwriter originally from Ireland.

I started writing songs when I was about 14 and iv been singing since I could talk . When I was younger I performed in different girlbands and sang on tracks for producers ,until I moved here to Perth 2011. I never stopped writing so in 2014 I put together a band called Brufield and earlier this year stated my solo adventure as Fields.

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?

My absolute love for music alone motivates me, as well as inspires me. Hearing a song for the first time, a lyric that resonates with me can make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I’ve always had the need to do that .. to others, I want my stories to tickle people someway.

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?

To play my music to people who love and appreciate it. To continue to write and perform.

What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour?

I’m currently touring my single Neverland, and I am due to release my EP Jan 2019, followed by an east coast tour sometime next year once iv completed all my shows here in Western Australia.

Tell us a bit about your latest album and how would you best describe your music?

My music is meaty folk with some celtic flavour. Most of my songs start soft and build to a foot stomping tempo. My EP will be a combination of ballads and a fun ditty in there . I like to write fun humorous songs ,but still with feeling and relatable to everyone.

Success, what is the secret to it?

It depends on what success means to you . Im successful because im doing what I love to do on a level I never thought I would . Anything from here would be an absolute dream.

What has been your biggest career highlight?

Playing at Big Day Out in 2014, and Bluesfest Byron Bay 2017(with Brufield)

I’ve had so many as Fields in such a short space of time, but the one that means the most is charting at 59 in the top 100 on itunes singer songwriter charts .Thats crazy to me.

Which stars of the music industry do you find inspiring?

I find Ed Sheeran incredibly inspirational ,Ryan Tedder ( one republic) Foy Vance, so many …mostly these guys as I love how they write and produce music.

Any new projects in the pipeline?

Just working on new songs, playing as many shows as I can and travelling with my music.

The music industry is huge, where do you see yourself a few years from now?

I hope to be doing what I’m doing now, bigger stages, bigger audiences. I’d love to write and produce for other artists also.

Name a few of your favourite Aussie artists.

John Butler , Birds of Tokyo , Shaun Kirk , Sia

The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?

I feel you are very much alone in doing so, with huge platforms that are swamped with musicians all wanting the same thing.

In saying that it is much easier to put out music independently now than 10 years ago, you just have to be savvy with your marketing and make sure you stay consistent and relevant .
