Elton John – I’m Still Standing
Sir Elton John has added Sydney to his list of venues when he heads Down Under to perform his ‘Greatest Hits’. Elton will perform at Lyric Theatre at Star City on Sunday November 27 before heading to Brisbane Entertainment Centre on November 30. Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena will have to wait till December 6 to see the music maestro. This tour is sure to see Elton at his brilliant best, although ticket prices are over $200 which may deter some. The biggest rumour around town is that Elton John may make a cameo appearance at this year’s ARIA Awards. Can’t believe that after all these years he’s ‘still standing’ and ripping out the hits.
Gypsy & The Cat – Jona Vark
Gypsy & The Cat will support Kylie Minogue here in Australia for her upcoming Aphrodite Live Les Folies Tour. Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers form the electro-pop duo who are based in Melbourne. Gilgamesh, the album released in November of 2010 has received plenty of airplay from local radio stations Nova and Triple J. The album peaked at #14 in Australia and will be sure to climb up the charts again when the duo take to the stage for the upcoming Kylie shows across the country.
Strange Talk – Eskimo Boy
Strange Talk are the new kids on the block in the Australian indie/electronic music scene. This cracking single Eskimo Boy does not disappoint, with bouncing disco and a bopping rock tune. The crew are from my home town – Melbourne, with band members Stephen Docker, Gerard Sidhu, Travis Constable and Gillian Gregory. Take a listen, you won’t be disappointed.
Tom Petty – I Won’t Back Down
The album Full Moon River was released in 1989 by Tom Petty with the first single I Won’t Back Down being released. The song peaked at #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100, #1 on the Album Rock Tracks and as high as #5 in Canada. The video, released in April of 1989 feature music wonders George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Mike Campbell and Beatle Ringo Starr. This track pretty much sums me up in a nutshell…
Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
but I’ll stand my ground, and I won’t back down
Kylie Minogue touches down in California for her astounding performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Kylie delivers her Aphrodite Live Tour in her first open-air presentation of the show, as we also get to see and hear from some of Kylie’s ‘overdressed’ fans lining the queue in San Francisco.

Tom Casiello’s final episode of Young and the Restless aired in the US on Friday May 27 in true cliffhanging style. It is what I am calling a ‘work of art’ – a true ode to what the number #1 soap in America has been for many many years. Christel Khalil stole the show with AUSTRALIAN sensations Daniel Goddard and the legendary Tristan Rogers bringing out this amazing piece of writing for Tom. Watch here as Tom’s final script went to air and the amazing cast of Young and the Restless hit their straps.
