Native Spirit are back with a blissed-out new video and single “Look Around”, adding another solid step forward after the buzzed about debut single “In My Head”.
Consisting of three brothers (Jonathan, Asher, and Daniel Takle), Native Spirit have combined forces to channel their life-long obsession with music, resulting in Native Spirit’s electronic-fusion sound that’s a warm embrace of summer vibes and dreamy beats. Immediately danceable 2015 release “In My Head” quickly gathered over 25,000 SoundCloud plays, leading to the massive anticipation and expectation of the follow up. “Look Around” delivers, with the Takle brothers creating a sprawling track, with a woozy hook bound to get stuck in your head for weeks.
“We were driven to produce something that provided some contrast to ‘In My Head’ – a track that was consistent but not one that would pigeonhole us”, says Asher. “Something that also allowed us to expand both sonically and lyrically…we think that ‘Look Around’ achieved that.”
Native Spirit also use their familial bonds to great effect, unifying the sound and showcasing a chemistry both live and in-studio – Asher (who has extensive production and writing skills) teams up with his identical twin brother Dan to create the dance framework, while their brother Jonathan uses expert drum knowledge to bring a natural edge to the electronic backbone. Combine this with the brothers’ talents in video production and visual art, and the end result is a strong, vibrant audio and visual identity that forms the core of Native Spirit. “Look Around” is taken from the forthcoming EP, due for release later this year.
