NEW MUSIC: Lakelend – Anybody Else But You

Ready player one? Today, heart-break electronica artist, Lakelend, returns with ‘Anybody Else But You‘. Diving deep into the poisonous torment of a bitter break-up, this glittering track remains infectiously danceable.

“‘Anybody Else But You’ is about being fresh out of a relationship in the most destructive and dangerous headspace you’ve ever experienced,” explains Lakelend.

Accompanying the single is an adrenaline-spiking music video that immerses viewers in an action-packed video game, following Lakelend as he navigates his way through a Grand Theft Auto-inspired universe. Lakelend describes that the AV Club produced video “shows me being dropped into this arcade world where I no longer am in charge of my surroundings with nothing but a clock that’s running out and a mission of bad choices to be made,” drawing parallels to a similar post-breakup recklessness around which the song is centred.

With roots as a guitarist and songwriter in the internationally-touring, ARIA-charting alt-rock band, Storm the Sky, Lakelend first channelled his passion for pop into his debut solo single ‘Fall Down’ in 2020. In his short solo career so far, Lakelend has already attracted praise from triple j tastemakers and has amassed over 200,000 streams on Spotify alone, landing himself slots on prominent editorial playlists such as ‘Pop ‘N Fresh’ and ‘Come Thru’.

It’s game on for Victorian fans as they have the opportunity to catch Lakelend live on December 17th, when he supports fellow Melbourne muso, Kuren, at Stay Gold. Don’t hesitate, first release tickets are already sold out.
