The Black Sorrows have just released their 17th album in the year marking Joe Camilleri’s 50 years in show business.
‘Certified Blue’, the new Black Sorrows album is a masterpiece. This is easily Joe’s strongest album since ‘Hold On To Me’ and most passionate since ‘Dear Children’.
Facing 50 years of being one of the hardest working musicians in the Australian music business has given Joe a creative surge. ‘Certified Blue’ has all positive elements spread over his previous 15 Black Sorrows albums condensed into one record.
The country-tinged ‘Until I Make You Mine’ recalls The E Street Band while the powerful ‘rock track ‘Can’t Give Up On You’ harks back to Joe’s own ‘Never Let Me Go’ and ‘Man Of Straw’ would fit right into Nashville. Blues, Jazz, Country, Roots, RnB, and Americana all get a spotlight on ‘Certified Blue’.
‘Certified Blue’ is also a stunning presentation. The album is available as a coloured 12 inch vinyl with added CD version.
Joe wrote the songs with his longtime songwriting partner Nick Smith and recorded with the Black Sorrows band featuring Claude Carranza (guitar/vocals), Mark Gray (bass/vocals), John McAll (keyboards/vocals) and Angus Burchall (drums).
The Black Sorrows will perform at Bluesfest, Bryon Bay over Easter and then head to Norway for three shows at the end of April.
