Exclusive Special Interview | Stone Parade

theaussieword.com catches up with the boys from Stone Parade!

Give us an introduction. How did it all begin? What had you first interested in music?
A few of us in the band have been writing music for some years now. We found each other based on location- Northern Beaches of Sydney. It’s an amazing place to live and helps with inspiration. Some amazing Australian artists/ bands from the past so many decades have influenced us.

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?
Our friends, interesting folks and their real life drama’s, happiness, sorrow and the ability to tell stories. It’s empowering to have the ability to have something to say.

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?
To have people touched by our music. Passing trends are passing trends, what really matters is whether something moves you or not.

What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour?
More and more music! We hope to just keep putting out singles and playing shows around the country when we can. A extensive tour would be unreal 😉

Tell us a bit about your latest album and how would you best describe your music?
We’ve gone back to the original stone parade sound. I feel like what we do best is ballads. It’s what we feel the most comes naturally to us, as do our fans.

Success, what is the secret to it?
Being happy with whatever you determine is success! Haha. That’s a funny question.

What has been your biggest career highlight?
A few things spring to mind. We played a pack house of just purely stone parade fans at the Viper Room in LA. That was suuuuuper cool. Some big tours we’ve been part on: Maroon 5, Hoobastank, Jimmy Barnes, INXS and just announced yesterday, Lifehouse……boom!

Which stars of the music industry do you find inspiring?
Prince, U2, Johnny Cash, Dr Dre…..where do I stop?

Any new projects in the pipeline?
Stone Parade Album 3!

The music industry is huge, where do you see yourself a few years from now?
Busking hahaha

Name a few of your favourite Aussie artists.
Chet Faker, Diesel, Jon Stevens

The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?
Crystal ball kinda shit! Haha There isn’t any set formula anymore. You just have to create what you create and put whatever you want out there.

Thanks for the interview! What final message do you have for us today?
Do something different and support live music. Try leaving the phone on silent as the facebook feed will always be there. 😉
