Forty years after its original issue, RCA/Legacy will release a new 2-CD Legacy Edition of Elvis Recorded Live on Stage in Memphis.Originally released on July 7, 1974 as a single LP, the new version has been enhanced with ten songs that were not on the original vinyl album including such favorites as All Shook Up, Love Me Tender and Suspicious Minds.
The musicians backing Elvis at the performance include James Burton and John Wilkinson (guitars); Charlie Hodge (guitar and vocals); Duke Bardwell (bass); Ronnie Tutt (drums); Glen D. Hardin (piano); The Sweet Inspirations, J.D. Sumner & The Stamps, Kathy Westmoreland (vocals) with Joe Guercio and his Orchestra.
Disc 2 of the set is a recently located “test run” concert held on March 18, 1974 in Richmond, VA. The recording, made two days before Elvis’ first return to Memphis since 1957, was recorded in and is presented in mono.
Filling out disc 2 are five tracks recorded at RCA Studios in Hollywood on August 16, 1974 and was meant as a reference recording for an upcoming run of shows in Las Vegas.
Also in the package will be a 24-page booklet with rare photos, memorabilia, new liner notes, press clips and more.
