Dees: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Melbourne Football Club’s rollercoaster 2011 season continues, as the Dees fell away to the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Friday night to the tune of 64 points.
Having thumped Richmond the week before, the Dees win one, lose one season continues to frustrate supporters. The Demons have the bye next week, followed by a trip up north to Darwin in the ‘Home’ fixture against Port Adelaide Power. It’s a horrible time for the club to start losing games when they are well and truly up for the taking. 8th spot has become the hot spot, with Richmond, Essendon, North Melbourne and now the Western Bulldogs all vying to take it and sneak into the 2011 finals. Melbourne has some serious regrouping to do and should hit the track hard in the week of the ‘bye’ before travelling to TIO Stadium in what is expected to be hot and humid conditions. On a better note, Aaron Davey is expected to make his return to the team. Sam Blease played a reasonable first game at the weekend and hopefully will improve. Lucas Cook is yet to make his debut, but you would think his first game in the red and blue is not very far away.
