Melbourne indie, electro-pop band, Brightly are literally putting Australian music on the map with the launch of their self-designed, ingenious music-sharing stunt, The Beginnings & Endings Project
The Beginnings & Endings Project is a world first, collaborate interactive world map, uniquely designed by the band to help share their debut album, Beginnings & Endings around the world for free.
All those who ‘join’ the project will instantly be emailed a free download of the band’s new single, Preflight Nerves, as well as a unique code.
Share your code, make ten connections and our debut album is yours for free,” lead vocalist Charlie Gleason explains.
When a code is shared, each kilometre is measured between the two shared locations, allowing the participant to directly track exactly how far their music-sharing has traveled around the globe.
So in summary, each person to take part in this inimitable idea will receive a free copy of the new single and Brightly is also offering an incentive to get people sharing their codes by offering a full download of their new album, Beginnings & Endings after ten shared connections of the unique code are made. It’s exponential, too, so every person in the chain benefits everyone else.

“We wanted to prove that independent artists can still make a mark, and The Beginnings & Endings Project will show just that, by throwing a metaphorical paper aeroplane and seeing how far it goes,” exclaims Charlie.

New Music: Civil Twilight ‘Fire Escape’

Civil Twilight have announced plans for their new single, ‘Fire Escape’, to be released on March 1 through Wind Up Records. With its distorted basslines and stadium-esque vocals, the track is taken from their forthcoming sophomore album Holy Weather, due for a UK release on April 8. The band will play a headline show at London’s Borderline on April 9 to follow.

Civil Twilight are Steven McKellar, his brother Andrew, Richard Wouters and Kevin Dailey.  Steven, Andrew and Richard grew up in Cape Town, best friends since childhood.  While their South African roots provided much inspiration, the three friends grew restless and relocated to Los Angeles. Their self-titled debut was recorded in South Carolina after which Steven, Andrew and Richard settled in Nashville.  Now home, it’s here in Nashville where they met Kevin Dailey, inviting Dailey to join Civil Twilight to write and record Holy Weather.
