Wight who was 47, played 150 games for the Demons before calling his retirement in 1995. Sean passed away this morning after a short battle with lung cancer. The highlight of his career came when he played in two night grand finals in 1987 and 1989, representing Victoria and playing off in the AFL Grand Final in 1988 alongside team mate and close friend Jim Stynes.
Sean was heroic in his stand as one of Melbourne’s bigger defenders who always put his body on the line and was never afraid of the hard tackle or big overhead mark. He will be missed by all who are part of the Melbourne Football Club family and those in the community who enjoyed his great athleticism. Rest In Peace.
