Special Interview: Ellery Cohen

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?

Actually grew up playing drums in the church and that actually kinda moulded my beginning of loving music I just couldn’t decide on an instrument that I wanted to play and slowly moved towards singing and songwriting.

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?

We all have those song that when we listen to them it jjust gives us that feeling.That is what I want to do when creating music.

What are some of your biggest goals you hope to accomplish?

Touring the world, headline at Wembley.

Small stuff you know. 

What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour?

Working on releasing an EP and playing lots of shows

Tell us a bit about your latest release and how would you best describe your music?

My newest song Demons is out now it’s a song about the struggles that we all experience in life it’s about accepting the things that we cannot change.

I write honest music that is relatable.

Give us an insight into your creative process. What gets you writing songs?

Each song I approach a little bit differently some I start with the melody, SomE start with words others but just a concept so each song is  unique in its own way. 

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music? 

Nothing is hidden. I’m pretty open and upfront it makes it easier for people to relate to it. 

Success, what is the secret to it?

Work hard & luck those two things work hand in hand

Which stars of the music industry do you find inspiring?

I find anyone who is honestly just putting their own music out there, it takes a lot of courage to release a song into the world. 

So if you’re doing that I’m Inspired. 

Are there any new projects in the pipeline?

Currently working on the EP with some new singles from that coming out very very soon !! 

The music industry is constantly changing, where do you see yourself a few years?

Still creating music that people connect with 

What is your favourite and least favourite part about this line of work and why?

I love being able to do something I really love & make a living.

I hate missing out on family things dude to my music

The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what does it mean to you in getting your records out into the public eye?

I think for people to hear what you’ve created you have to give it to them. As difficult as it is I have a great team who handle it for me and for that I’m so grateful cos I’m not good at that side of things.   

How will you continue appealing to the international market?

Continue creating music that in super proud of.

The rest will happen on its own

Do you collaborate with others? Who is on your wish-list?

One day I’d love to work with Ryan Tedder or Paul Mcartney 

What advice do you give for other artists wanting to follow in your footsteps?

What ever you want to do give it 100% 

If you fail at least you know you gave it all you have.

A message for your fans. How do you best interact and respond with your followers and fans?
