SPECIAL INTERVIEW: REN

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Conor from REN.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry? I started playing the guitar at the age of 13 but what really made me want to get in to the music industry was seeing documentaries about bands like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC on tv. Living life on the road looked brilliant so I decided the musicians life was going to be for me from a young age.51411433_2165041326867937_3206379518109417472_n

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music? Making music has become such a habitual thing that it doesn’t feel like I need anything to motivate me anymore. It’s just something that I do and is a part of my life whether I like it or not!

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist? What I really hope for is a career with longevity. I’d still like to be writing, recording and releasing music until a ripe old age. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: REN

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: UNBLOOM

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Jonathan from UNBLOOM.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?

I started playing drums when I was 13 years old, and eventually made my way into several indie, funk, and jazz bands. My love for production and studio wizardry began when we recorded these projects in various studio environments. I loved the process of tinkering and sculpting sounds to create new and exciting ideas. Processed with VSCO with p5 preset

My love of dance/electronic music, however, occurred when I listened to Disclosure’s debut album “Settle” for the first time. I knew in that instant that I wanted to make music that could move people physically and emotionally.

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music?

Making people emote to my music is something that motivates me every day to become better at my craft.  I want to make music that engages you on all levels.

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist?

In a world of streaming and metrics, I think getting to 1 million streams would be a big deal for me. I know numbers a superficial basis to mark success, but I just feel hitting that number would mean so much to the validity of the UNBLOOM project. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: UNBLOOM

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Calan Mai

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM catches up with Australian singer/songwriter Calan Mai.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry?

I always knew I wanted to be a writer. But when I was a kid I didn’t make the connection between music and writing: the idea that songs were constructed and could be about any subject matter. Once I began learning guitar at 13, it didn’t take long for me to start writing my own songs. The compulsion was always there, I just needed the musical knowledge. I’m drawn to songs because they are one of the most concise ways to tell a story. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Calan Mai

NEW MUSIC: Harrison Storm – ‘Run’

‘I was super excited to get to work with Sam Brumby and Anna Phillips on this clip. They’re two very talented humans. To have Jeremy Lindsay Taylor involved too was the cherry on top and really brought the clip to a whole new level.’  – Harrison Storm

Melbourne based singer songwriter – Harrison Storm releases the official video for his latest single ‘Run,’ with Australian actor Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (Sea Patrol, Puberty Blues, Heartbreak High) taking on the lead role.

Shot in the beautiful spot that is Stanwell Park and Coledale, NSW, the video follows the story of a man mourning with the loss of his father through flashbacks which feature fellow Australian actor Brendan Moar (Dry Spell Gardening – Foxtel, Coast Australia). The story is one of coming to terms with loss and looking to the future when things may seem bleak. Themes of loss and moving on are explored throughout.

Run was Directed and Produced by Anna Phillips & Jamie Croft with Sam Brumby looking after both Editing and acting as Director of Photography.

“When Harrison’s team came to me with this story it immediately bought the song to life for me. This story is about the aftermath of losing someone in your life that was the glue that held it all together. It’s about a family connection with the ocean, and the strong bond that a father and son share. Jeremy Lindsay Taylor delivers an honest, raw and captivating performance that is the perfect combination of strength and vulnerability.”  – Director Anna Phillips

‘Run’ has had strong momentum since its release on Feb 22nd with the track already gaining 300 thousand combined streams across Spotify & Apple Music.

Harrison is currently touring as the main support for Gregory Alan Isakov’s Australian tour.

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Danielle Todd

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM special interview with Danielle Todd.

Give us an introduction. How did it all begin? What had you first interested in music?

Musical talent constantly surrounded me when I was a kid. It wasn’t unusual for me to go to bars to see my dad perform matinees with his country band in the early 90s, or go and see my cousin perform when I was a teenager. Throughout high school I started to book my own shows and made all my family and friends come out to see me. By the time I graduated high school I was a full-time touring musician. It wasn’t a question of whether or not I’d be a musician; it’s just what I made happen. It’s what I was born into. Continue reading SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Danielle Todd

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Bein

THEAUSSIEWORD.COM special interview with BEIN.

How and where did it all begin for you? What drew your interest to the music industry? Hi, Brian! Wow. Thats a longer answer to this then I could tell you here easly. But to make it simple, I started stealing my fathers old Gibson guitar when I was about 5 years old. Somehow I was hooked on frequencies from that moment.
Besides that, me and my mates watched a Beatles documentary togheter, and we were stoked to see how many chicks they had after them. I guess that was my selling point right here 😛

Screen Shot 2019-03-10 at 10.36.33 pm

What motivates or influences you in your quest to make great music? One of the greatest things about music is that it always moves ahead. I think I have been trying to learn as many genres as possibly to explore the world of music. So I guess, since music is always getting improved in some way, I can always search and discover something new. Every day if I want 🙂

What are your biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist? Hmm, I was invited to come play on a city festival in Germany in 2013, and there was over 9000 people infront of me 😛 That was pretty sick!
But personally, it was that I decided to work fulltime on songwriting. That took a great deal of courage.

What can we expect from you in the coming months? Any plans to tour? I am going on tour again in Semptember. But before that I gonna try releasing a song every month. Just got new vocals back today, so now I am currently sitting and mixing the track «Like A Fool» on Phi Phi Island in Thailand 🙂

Tell us a bit about your latest release and how would you best describe your music?Hanging on with Chloe Kay was great fun to make. It happens that I have a record label called Ghost Town As that she submitted a song to me. And I loved the way she sang. And from there on we discussed that we were gonna work on a song together.
