NEW MUSIC: Jessie Early ‘Holy Ghost’

Nashville indie-pop artist Jessie Early has unveiled her latest single, “Holy Ghost,” making the song available today at all digital music services. No Country For New Nashville premiered the track saying, “…Jessie Early resurrects arena drums, guitar solos, and tightly arranged background vocals for single “Holy Ghost.” “Holy Ghost” is the second single from her upcoming EP, Wild Honey.

Commenting on “Holy Ghost,” Jessie tells us, “I feel like a lot of people are recreating the iconic 80s sounds right now, but I really wanted to explore some of the stuff I didn’t necessarily feel like people were doing — big arena drums, guitar solos, and super arranged background vocals. My parents are both musicians and songwriters, so I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Petty. Those were some of the sounds and arrangements that have really inspired this particular song.”

Wild Honey is a project years in the making, with many of the songs tracing their roots back to early Garage Band vocals and beats. Two years into this EP’s recording process, Jessie felt unsettled with the direction of the songs. She reached out to producer/artist Jeremy Larson (Violents) to help track strings. Jeremy had an immediate impact on the tracks, so Jessie enlisted him to co-produce, mix, and master Wild Honey. She also recruited her husband, Aaron Early (Apache Relay), to play drums on the EP and bring the snares and Rototoms on this EP to life.
