Melbourne based trio, Stonefox are back after independently releasing their debut EP, ‘Surface’ which saw the low-key three-piece precociously amass a Spotify play count exceeding 2.5 million in their as of yet short existence as a band. Championed by some of the most influential parties in international music tastemaking including Majestic Casual and Mr Suicide Sheep, Stonefox drew widespread critical acclaim for delivering a unique and honest sound that has also seen them threaten to top the Hype Machine chart on multiple occasions.
This month sees Stonefox return with the new single ‘Dreamstate’, a superb serving of pristine mellow-pop crafted in collaboration with Sydney-based producer JP Fung (Last Dinosaurs, Snakadaktal) whose touch has catapulted their sound to the next level. “The amount of energy we put into creating ‘Dreamstate’ has really refined our sound. When we took it to the studio, we learnt a lot about the complexities of production while staying true to our vision of the song. It’s evolved a lot since it was first written and feels like we’ve really grown as a band in the process.” To herald the arrival of ‘Dreamstate’, Stonefox are set to headline Yah Yah’sin Melbourne on Saturday August 5, supported by Retro Culture with more supports to be announced.
