New Music Video: The Boxer Rebellion ‘Big Ideas’

London quartet The Boxer Rebellion reveal the stunning video to their new single ‘Big Ideas’, the first single taken from their upcoming album “Ocean By Ocean” (Due April 29).

The video sees the band transformed into sin-city gangsters, thrown into a sleazy grime story of a femme fatale, corrupt cop and a crime family in conflict. It was filmed & edited in Hollywood earlier this year by director/animator maestro Adam Avilla who comments;

“The track, “Big Ideas” has such a profound and dark reverie that I couldn’t help but be flooded with images. It feels so expansive and emotional; like something that plays in your head during the montage of a heartbreak. I wanted to create a surreal story that flips through a series of memories of a lost love, like images you pass along the road and no matter how far or fast you drive you can’t escape.”

The band added; “This video was an exciting step into the unknown for us and was brought to life by Adam Avilla’s imagination and creativity. By referencing our album art direction and associations with making the record in LA but with a determination to try something totally different within the song’s narrative he’s delivered.”

‘Big Ideas’, which has recently been added to Double J rotation, is an atmospheric, climactic single that beautifully combines both the intimate and the epic. It sees the band at their finest, with stylish delayed guitars, pulsing rhythms – all tied together with front man Nathan Nicholson’s captivating vocals. It’s is a track that concerns missed opportunities according to Nicholson. “It’s about meeting someone special but at the wrong time in your life. You feel lucky to have met them but also, because of the bad timing, like you have the very worst kind of luck.”

Now in the fifteenth year as a band, new album ‘Ocean By Ocean’ is quite simply The Boxer Rebellion’s most complete record to date, and have announced its release on April 29th.
