K25: KYLIE’S MAGNETIC ELECTRIC ANTI TOUR!

KYLIE MINOGUE made a stunning return to the Melbourne stage on Sunday night, minus the glitter and buffed up dancers to put on show an amazing ‘low-commotion’ display of stripped back classics, B Sides, Demos and Rarities. The Palace on Melbourne’s Bourke Street had queues that stretched for blocks, all of who were the very lucky 2000 ‘Super Fans’ to witness Kylie in her hometown. The venue was standing room only as the crowd cheered, waved and whistled Kylie Minogue’s homecoming Anti Tour debut show. Melbourne had welcomed back their Queen with open arms.
This was Kylie Minogue in the most intimate of shows, more so than the Impossible Princess tour back in 1998. Sunday’s Anti Tour was an opportunity for fans to share in Kylie’s amazing 25 year anniversary, from the onset, Kylie was quick to brand all those lucky people inside ‘Super Fans’…and boy did they party, singing along to songs that only the truest of diehard Kylie Minogue fans would know. It all started with the funky sounding Magnetic Electric, Kylie’s support band right on tune. It was the next track that seemed to get the biggest cheers, Made In Heaven… a moment the Super Fans will remember.

It was a dream set list for fans, many other tracks missed the final cut but fans were not disappointed as they joined Kylie on this very special trip down memory lane. Both Ron and Carol Minogue, Kylie’s parents were in attendance, the crowd making them both welcome to a very loud applause, they watched on from one of The Palace’ upper tiers. Minogue royalty was in the house! The show just seemed to fly past, so much nostalgia and such a treat for fans that it was all over in almost two hours of Minogue magic. Kylie saved her best for last with a stirring rendition of The Delinquents hit Tears On My Pillow, Kylie dedicating it to her father Ron who watched on from the stands. The closing number for the night was Enjoy Yourself, a fan favourite, that was enough to send The Palace crowd into complete and utter meltdown! A truly amazing show, one that will go down as one of the best Kylie Minogue performances to hit Melbourne.
